Animal Advocates Push For 'No-Kill' NYC By 2015

Every day New York City kills an average of 44 dogs and cats because no one will adopt them.

Eight years ago, that number was more than double, according to Animal Care and Control (ACC) of New York City, the non-profit agency responsible for the city's shelter system. But five years into a coordinated campaign by animal rights advocates, New York is on its way to becoming a "no-kill city," meaning no euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals, by 2015.
